Intesa Sanpaolo, ALEXBANK to host agribusiness and climate change panel at COP27

Egypt’s ALEXBANK, Intesa Sanpaolo agribusiness and climate change panel at COP27

Intesa Sanpaolo Group and its Egyptian subsidiary, the Bank of Alexandria (ALEXBANK) will host a panel on tackling the competitive dynamics for agribusiness and territorial development at this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).

The participation at COP27 is in line with Intesa Sanpaolo and ALEXBANK’s broader ESG strategy in which relevant attention is dedicated to the environment and territory preservation, to be pursued also through the long-term sustainability of agribusiness activities, with a clear commitment as confirmed by the Group recent initiatives in the Agri-Business sector.

“Intesa Sanpaolo’s participation at COP27 comes from our rooted efforts in ESG and sustainability principles, as we direct undivided efforts and commitments towards an environmentally and socially more sustainable world, with significant commitments all across the Intesa Sanpaolo Group network worldwide,” Marco Elio Rottigni, Chief of International Subsidiary Banks Division at Intesa Sanpaolo Group said in a statement.

It is in line with both banks’ aspirations to share experiences in the field of sustainability and climate change issues, with a particular focus on the Group’s dynamic engagement in the agribusiness sector—an industry where environmental sustainability is becoming a key pillar in driving growth both locally and internationally.

Over the past five years, ALEXBANK has undergone a profound evolution from a Creating Shared Value (CVS) approach to the progressive integration of ESG principles into the heart of its business model.

“Stemming from ALEXBANK’s strategy and strong belief in the importance of innovation and inclusive finance to support the development of Egypt’s countryside, we are actively participating in COP27,” said Dante Campioni, Managing Director & CEO of ALEXBANK.

Since 2017, ALEXBANK has elevated its transparent disclosure efforts on ESG performance in alignment with Intesa Sanpaolo’s practices, following recognised frameworks such as UNEP-FI, PRB, UN Global Compact, and Equator principles and issuing its annual Sustainability Reports.
